Hopefully we have 5 weeks left! Baby O at 35 weeks is around 18 inches long and weighs around 5 1/4 pounds! BIG. About the weight of a honeydew melon. His kidneys are fully developed and his liver can process some waste products. Most of his physical development is now complete and he will be busy putting on weight for the rest of his stay.
Josh and I attended our first birth class last week and one of the things we did in the class was find out how much the baby and his “accoutrements” (a.k.a. amniotic fluid, placenta, umbilical cord) weigh at 3, 6, and 8 months. The 8 month “belly” weighed a TON!!! It was incredible. It makes a lot of sense now why my back hurts so much. We’ve been trying to get totally ready just in case Jacob decides to come early. We are pretty much there! The nursery has been done, now the diaper bag is packed, the car seat is installed (!) and I’m close to being packed for the hospital. Fab! Next I have to finish my Christmas shopping (getting close) and then I think I’ll try to make some freeze-able meals for after the baby is born.
