I had just taken Jacob out of the bath and put his diaper on when he wiggled away from my grasp (on my bedroom floor) and crawled to his toy box in our room. Stuffed behind it was this hat. He grabbed it and put it on, then proceeded to grab my sonicare toothbrush from the counter, turn it on, and brush his teeth. Sometimes I wonder how someone so small can be so smart and funny. 🙂
When it rains I want to jump in the car and race off to Disneyland. It did the other day, but by the time we got there it was sunny, hot and crowded. Waaa-waaaaaa. We had fun anyway, going on jacob’s first carousel ride and first time on the jungle cruise. I didn’t really remember the jungle cruise and I giggled through the whole ride. What a cute one.
The sun was fine because I had wasted about twenty minutes at home trying to find Jacob’s knit Mickey hat. I packed it in my backpack and he took it out and was playing with it. It was pretty adorable to see him walk around with the hat on all slouchy like a beret. But then he stuffed it somewhere and I could. Not. Find it. Anywhere.

I think that our parenting style has created a very independent child. He never had to worry or fear separation and so he doesn’t. He just … does his own things. He isn’t quite big enough for playgrounds yet but he loves them. On this particular day, he was ready to go down all the slides by himself. He wouldn’t even accept my help climbing off of them. When he really got stuck he would calmly call out to me, holding out his hand and then signing for me to help, but otherwise he only looked for me to make sure I saw him do something exciting. It was really cute but really … grown up. Bittersweet.
Mommy won’t let me eat her headphones.
