From my birthday dinner…
Josh got us tickets to see American Idiot (the Green Day musical) for Mother’s Day…here we are about to leave for it:
Btw, this Banana Republic dress has certainly earned its keep…I think I’ve worn it to the point that it cost $2/event! 🙂

My birthday dinner…

Oops, they tipped over, but they were still delicious!
Can you believe it’s been two years since Josh’s accident? I can’t. It seems longer. So much has happened that the accident seems like another life.
But it wasn’t.
Two years ago I almost lost the love of my life. We came so close. we are so lucky to be where we are now; happy in our beautiful house with our most amazing blessing: Jacob.
As it happens, I am in Palm Dprings again this year on the anniversary, listening to cicadas in the blistering heat and remembering the day that the earth almost stopped spinning for me. Since I’ve already written about it at length, I’ll post links if you’d like to reminisce.
Have I mentioned how blessed we are? Have I expressed how thankful we are? We are humbled and in awe of the blessings we’ve received. We will never forget.
Thanks again to those who saw us through that tough time, and those who love us.
Recently, I made this emergency kit as a bridal shower gift for my friend Jamie. I wanted to give her something personal, useful, and outside-the-box. I like the way it turned out. I used my knowledge of the things I wished I had or could have used for those random emergencies.
I started with a black train case, nice and compact:

And packed it to capacity.
In case you don’t know…Josh had a button come off of his tux and broke his boutonniere before the ceremony. Oh! And spilled guacamole on it! So some of these items are in honor of those mishaps! Others were things I wish I had in the emergency kit I made for myself (static spray, I’m lookin’ at you!)
Some would recommend clear nail polish for runs in hosiery…but who wears that anymore? (for the record: I did)
I also made awesome “college survival kits” a few years back for Brittany and Dillon…I didn’t photograph them of course but I might still have the list of contents! Very cute and original gift ideas!
