What it’s like to live with me now

I have been really HOT this entire pregnancy. Especially when I’m sleeping. It’s like no temperature is cold enough – I could sleep in a walk-in refrigerator. Last night I had all the windows open and cool air was blowing through the room and it was absolutely freezing..but I loved it. Josh was cold as can be, and he says when he rolls over and touches my arm outside of the covers it is stone cold, but I love it. I actually have been sleeping pretty well lately! Sorry, Josh. 🙂

33 Weeks

The vegetable or fruit connection isn’t making a ton of sense right now, so I’ll skip it. This week, Baby O’s weight is approximately that of a pineapple – around 4 pounds. But he is over 17 inches long, so picturing a pineapple won’t do very much good. 🙂 At 33 weeks he is moving a lot, in the creepy, Loch Ness Monster sort of way. I feel something slide against my skin, and yes, it feels totally as creepy as it sounds. Haha! According to Baby Center, he’s still fattening up, losing the skinny alien appearance and gaining a new rosy baby appearance. His skeleton is hardening now as well. It tells me to expect to be less comfortable and have a difficult time walking, sitting, sleeping…pretty much uncomfortable. And I am. I have had terrible back pain that is pretty much excruciating all the time. Now my hip has joined in for an extra dose of pain while walking. But I made it a long time without complaining, so don’t get sick of me now! 🙂

We have 7 weeks to go, and the little ticker at the bottom of this blog is scaring me. I know it will fly by and I hope he isn’t early!

Pictures on the walls

I’m sure you know by now that when I say the house is “done” it just isn’t ever actually done. We finally got our framed photos down from the eaves of the garage and hung them, along with some new ones, in the living room. We have so much wall space – we’ll have to keep going! (yay).photo

We borrowed the idea of hanging this awesome card holder in our entryway for photos, wedding invitations, and the like. I can’t wait to fill it with Christmas cards!I still need to post some photos of my Halloween decor – hopefully that will post on Tuesday! As always there will be a baby update tomorrow. Have a great Sunday!

FINALLY – The Nursery

Welcome to Jake’s nursery! We hope he likes it.

Left wall:Right wall:Middle:Facing the door:Baskets over the changing table/dresserI just love these decals (thanks, Kelly!!)The beautiful crib from my Aunt Kere’ and Uncle Michael:This beautiful name banner may look familiar if you were at my shower. Made with love by my mom and Kelly Paulsen. The bookends in action with all the beautiful books. The art I ordered from Etsy:The castle is a crayon holder from Aunt Niki:

(In case you’re wondering, to the left of it is a white noise machine and far left the handheld monitor screen for our video monitor, which is amazing! (Thanks Aunt Kere’ and Mime’!) and the picture behind the castle is me sitting on a castle wall in Scotland in High School.)Board books in a basket labeled with a little chalkboard:His personalized and very special present from Michele on the left! I don’t know if I ever showed this bookend in detail. Adorable hand made finger puppets, thanks to Krysta! They were too cute so I framed them. 🙂You may remember this painting from early this summer…I am so excited about the beautiful blankets that were given and made for Jacob. Surplus diapers in a basket behind the door, also labeled with a chalkboard.

Whew, that was a lot of pictures!

We are really happy with the room. I’m not sure the pictures do it justice…you might just have to visit. 🙂 Thanks again to everyone who contributed bits and pieces of the beautiful room. He is a lucky boy, and we are grateful! Happy Friday!

Third Anniversary Celebration

We celebrated our third anniversary last weekend with a really great day of events.

First, we took a helicopter tour of the local beaches.

My view from the front seat...looking down at my feet!

See the swimming pools built into the cliffside for ocean water to fill?

After the ride, we went to Top of the World park for my 32-week pictures.

I think I look ridiculous...like a lollipop on a stick?

All in all, it was a wonderful day!

Large jicama! 32 weeks!

O   M   G everyone!!!! 32 weeks! 8 to go! This is getting CRAZY. I can’t actually believe it, still. I guess I thought that before the time came I would get used to the idea, but I haven’t! hehe.

So, baby O now weighs 3.75 pounds (as  much as a large jicama) and is roughly 16.7 inches long. That is BIG! These final weeks involve some rapid weight gain for me, but half of it goes straight to the baby. I’m supposed to gain 1 pound per week, and he gets half of it. So he should gain 4 pounds over the remaining weeks (or 1/3 to half of his birth weight, whatever that ends up to be). He could have hair now, if he will have hair, but my bet is that he doesn’t!

My blood volume has increased by 40 or 50 %, which can cause shortness of breath, and it has. I feel like I can’t breathe almost all the time. This has been going on for some time, but it definitely feels worse lately. From this week’s Baby Center update: “Your expanding uterus shifts your center of gravity and stretches out and weakens your abdominal muscles, changing your posture and putting a strain on your back. Hormonal changes in pregnancy loosen your joints and the ligaments that attach your pelvic bones to your spine. This can make you feel less stable and cause pain when you walk, stand, sit for long periods, roll over in bed, get out of a low chair or the tub, bend, or lift things.” I can certainly attest to the back pain! It has gotten really intense in the last couple of weeks. I also may have injured a spot in my mid- to upper- back, which hurts pretty intensely when I’m sitting upright or standing…I find myself rubbing that spot until it hurts even more. My hips and lower back are hurting and just generally feeling “off” as well. It isn’t as fun to walk and getting up from a seated position or from squatting is a lot harder, probably just from the extra weight I’m carrying. My calves have started getting cramped up in the night, and the hip and back pain make sleeping pretty uncomfortable as well. While that may have sounded like a lot of complaining, I promise it’s not! So little time left, and so few complaints! I am content with these things. I know a lot of women who are miserable and can’t stand being pregnant anymore at this point…but I am good. I don’t want time to fly by! I want my time! haha. Stay tuned for pictures of the finished nursery!
