Heading home.
I crest over the top of east Chapman Avenue and I am confronted with this beautiful sight. I was reminded of the very many nights I drove home from work this way. I would get excited at that point. I knew I was close to home, safety, comfort.
I remember one drive in particular, little Jacob kicking away from his safe home in my belly. I was singing along with Sarah Bareilles and wondering if he would remember those songs someday. Safety. Comfort. Home.
