Dapper Day is an unofficial Disneyland celebration day in which people dress up, usually vintage, and go to the park. It started to honor Walt Disney’s original concept drawings of Disneyland and how he imagined guests dressing. It has expanded into anything dressy/and era of vintage/Disneybounding. Disneybounding is where you dress in something inspired by a character, but more of an homage, not the costume per say. So maybe you wear a blue skirt and white top that any contemporary store would sell with white knee socks and a black headband as a sort of tribute to Alice in Wonderland. Anyway, last year was my first foray into the wonderful holiday and I loved it. (It’s twice a year at Disneyland, but my pass is only valid Monday through Friday, so I cannot attend the spring event which is on a Sunday.) The September event is an evening one, and it is so fun and cute! I went with buddies Samantha and Kasi and we stayed at the Grand Californian hotel. The hotel had fun Dapper events like a vintage pop-up shop and artists making beautiful fashion sketches of you in your attire. It seemed like half the park was dressed up this year! It was really fun. We were stopped a few times by people asking what in the world was going on with the clothes. 🙂
